It was just a bit chilly, but the 2017 kickoff to the Johnson County Farmers Market was a success. Local farmers and crafters come to the courthouse square to market their goods. Locals and visitors come for a taste of homemade jams or specialty breads, along with picking up some fresh fruits, vegetables, and farm fresh eggs. You'll also get a wide variety of specialty crafts and jewelry. Be sure to make plans for your Saturday mornings to attend the Johnson County Farmers Market.

Take a peek at the Spadra Campground and Boat Launch Park in Clarksville. This is a great place for campers to park their RV and take in the gorgeous scenery Clarksville has to offer. This view of the Arkansas River is spectacular! There is also a nice ramp to put your boat into the water. I've seen the sunrise over the river during one of the many fishing tournaments. It's a site you won't want to miss!

Wow! I'm thankful to live in the Arkansas River Valley as the winter months approach. As I watch the national weather, I see lots of snow, ice, and treacherous driving conditions. We may get the occasional couple of inches of snow or some ice, but luckily it's usually just a few days of the season.

It is one of best times to do some sightseeing in the Arkansas River Valley. The leaves of fall are spectacular to see now. Whatever direction you decide to take, it's sure to be a beautiful view of the red, yellow, and orange leaves. I particularly love to see the trees crowding around the lakes, river, and streams in the area. Happy fall y'all.

One of the great things about small towns are local farmers and family heritage. The Morgan Family is being honored as the Farm Family of the Year. Local peaches are one of the highlights of the summer in Johnson County....along with the Peach Festival that brings fun to all the locals and visiting festival "goers. The Morgan Family boast generations of farming in the Johnson County area. I just read Mrs. Morgan's great "secret family recipe" in a local magazine for some smoky peach BBQ sauce that sounded wonderful. Thanks to all of the local farmers for all of the hard work you do for Johnson County.
