Greers Ferry Lake was created as a result of the dam and is the recreational attraction for Heber Springs and surrounding areas. Take a boat tour across Greers Ferry Lake this fall and you will most likely encounter bald eagle sightings. These beautiful creatures are mesmerizing as they hunt for food or just soaring across the sky. Several sightings have been reported all across the lake recently and I had the pleasure of watching eaglets grow up to adulthood last summer. The water is crystal clear which is perfect for them to hunt food for their young. Spend the day boating around our Greers Ferry Lake and see all its beauty along the way.

Heber Springs is fortunate to have one of the top sports complexes in the state and surrounding area. Our sports complex has 8 baseball/softball fields and 6 soccer fields. Each field has covered dugouts, covered spectator stands, press box, and electronic scoreboard. Two concession stands with restrooms are located on the site. The Complex is used for city leagues and to host many tournaments.

However, on a personal level, what I really like about about our sports complex is watching my grandkids, the kids of all of my friends, and others of the community play ball. What a great place for family and friends to gather and build wonderful memories.

The Little Red River flows from the huge dam of the Greers Ferry Lake. It is a peaceful and beautiful river meandering through gorgeous forested areas, hills and flat lands teeming with watchable wildlife. Little Red River is a cold water stream which is very popular with trout fishing enthusiasts. Stocked rainbow trout is the main fish population but brown trout, running five to eight pounds, are common with larger fish easily possible since there was a 40-pound, 4-ounce catch in 1992. There are several vacation rentals and resorts available offering guide services and boat rentals.
