Cabot, Arkansas, has experienced a lot of growth recently! The addition of custom home neighborhoods, restaurants, and medical facilities has made the local economy burst while maintaining the quiet charm of a not-so-small town.

I recently went to this wonderful little coffee shop. The coffee was one of the best I have had with the beautiful foam design on top. They also have many food items available and they smelled delicious. The atmosphere was quaint and pleasant. I look forward to visiting with my girls again soon!!

Cabot is known as the Strawberry Capital of Arkansas. Along with the tasty Holland Bottoms patch, try Barnhill Orchards located off of Hwy 89 S. They have great strawberries with much shorter lines and great produce too.

Coffee lover, here again, sharing about this gem in Cabot! I grew up in Cabot and a coffee shop was absolutely unheard of in my day! Now there are options in town, even a Starbucks. Grinds is locally owned and is a must-visit. Try the cinnamon roll (warm, of course) and a vanilla latte for a little pick-me-up!
  • Habitat For Humanity has finalized the deal to build 13 homes in a pocket community here in Cabot. The location is on Cut Hill, near the Steeplechase Apartments. Welcome to Cabot, Habitat! I'm looking forward to picking up a hammer and wearing a hard hat for a great cause!

First Baptist Church in Cabot has a special needs room for all children with any type of special need that they may not be able to sit in a regular Sunday School classroom or worship service. Volunteers with backgrounds and training in special needs come spend the morning so parents can attend their own class or a worship service and have qualified people looking after their special kiddo. They also have a special needs parents night out where parents get a Friday night out from 6:00-10:00 p.m. with childcare at the church!
  • Congratulations to Rebecca Williams Photography on their grand opening! Rebecca is giving back to our community by creating the #ThisIsCabot campaign on Facebook, donating her time and expertise. She spotlights local business owners and non-profit organization leaders for their philanthropy.
  • The Cabot Parks and Recreation Commission is working on getting a new field surface installed on the Cabot baseball and softball fields. The state of the art surface will provide a stable playing surface that will cut down on injuries. They won't hold water after a heavy rain, reducing the amount of rainouts for league and tournament play.
  • Congratulations to Ken Kincade, our new Mayor of Cabot! Really looking forward to serving with him, and watching our communities great progress. Onward and upward!

When deciding on an area to make your home, there are questions about vacation spots for your family that are enjoyable and affordable. My favorite place is Branson which is a beautiful drive up Hwy 65 and takes about 3 hours to get there. There are so many options with shows, Silver Dollar City, water parks, shopping, fishing...unlimited fun for all! Easy weekend getaway!

In the early 1970's, Cabot was just a small community of about 2,000 residents. It was the devastating tornado of 1976 that put Cabot on the map. With the loss of 3 precious lives and almost destroying the town, Cabot fought back and built back its town. In the 1980's, the Little Rock area encountered tough school situations and families fled to the suburbs. Here was Cabot...ready and waiting! Small town atmosphere with the focus on building homes and schools to meet the needs of families.

From 1990 to 2000, the city exploded by doubling its population from 8,300 to almost 16,000! New construction homes were the life saver for the demand for housing. Cabot was named as "Boomtown of Arkansas".

Then came 9/11...no one knew what the future would be for the housing market. But we survived and the housing industry prospered to almost unbelievable records in the 2004-2005 era. Cabot kept growing with homes and schools and community growth. We are currently about 25,000 in population. Our school district covers a large part of Lonoke County and currently educates 10,200 kids! Cabot rocks!
