    I'm so excited to have the fall season arrive! I love the views of the fall foliage as I drive in the mountains around the area. If you haven't been sight-seeing in this area, you may want to start making plans! The scenery will be amazing!
  • It's that time of the year again...time to roll into another spring season. It is so beautiful in Clarksville and surrounding areas. I love to drive up Highways 21,103, and 164 to get a taste of the beautiful River Valley views. Be sure and check out some of the local trails and sites that are a must see. It creates some beautiful scenery and some of the best recreation areas with the Mulberry River and Piney Creek flowing through our area. I may just make a short dash over to Haw Creek Falls with the rain we've had, it's sure to be worth the drive.

    If you're hearing a lot of hammering and the clang of the dump trucks in the Clarksville area, don't worry too much. There's just a lot of progress going on. There are lots of new construction projects, including new duplexes and apartments close to the University of the Ozarks, and home builders getting that dream home completed. Now that the Solar Panel Project with Clarksville Light and Water is up and running...maybe they'll all see a drop in their utility bills!

Scenic Hill Solar is leasing land from Clarksville Light and Water, and plans to complete construction by mid 2018 for the largest Solar Panel Plant in Arkansas.     There's another new business in Clarksville. Domino's Pizza is open for business in the downtown Clarksville area. Residents now have another pizza place with the added benefit of delivery! It is so nice to see the continued economic growth of the area.

    It was just a bit chilly, but the 2017 kickoff to the Johnson County Farmers Market was a success. Local farmers and crafters come to the courthouse square to market their goods. Locals and visitors come for a taste of homemade jams or specialty breads, along with picking up some fresh fruits, vegetables, and farm fresh eggs. You'll also get a wide variety of specialty crafts and jewelry. Be sure to make plans for your Saturday mornings to attend the Johnson County Farmers Market.

    Take a peek at the Spadra Campground and Boat Launch Park in Clarksville. This is a great place for campers to park their RV and take in the gorgeous scenery Clarksville has to offer. This view of the Arkansas River is spectacular! There is also a nice ramp to put your boat into the water. I've seen the sunrise over the river during one of the many fishing tournaments. It's a site you won't want to miss!

    If you're looking for a place that is more kid friendly, take a short drive to Hagarville. The Baccus Farm is located there. The large building is set up for most any event and there's a petting zoo that is sure to please most an age.

  • The Clarksville Parks and Recreation has completed the new extension to the existing trail. The trail bifurcates to add another 1.35 miles that will take you to Crawford Highway. This is another great addition to the Clarksville community. Your tax dollars at work!
  • It is one of best times to do some sightseeing in the Arkansas River Valley. The leaves of fall are spectacular to see now. Whatever direction you decide to take, it's sure to be a beautiful view of the red, yellow, and orange leaves. I particularly love to see the trees crowding around the lakes, river, and streams in the area. Happy fall y'all.
  • The votes have been counted and it appears that the millage increase was approved to fund the new Clarksville High School.The school states that construction would begin immediately and estimated to be completed by the 2017-2018 school year. The high school currently houses over 500 students, with a total of around 2000 students for the entire school district.
  • If you live in or around Clarksville, or are in town for a visit, there are many things to do here. If you're a fisherman, you can head down to Lake Ludwig, the Arkansas River, or many of the streams and tributaries of Piney Bay. There are great restaurants that include Mexican, Italian, Truck Stops, comfort, BBQ, and fine cuisine! Want to hit the National Forest for hiking, hunting, or four wheeling; there's always those options, too. Make a full day of it and do it all! Shop, eat, hike and tour Clarksville!

It is nice to see new businesses coming to town and the talk of new developments. You'll notice new construction underway around town with homes, rental homes, and apartments.

    The University of the Ozarks is seeing higher student enrollment numbers and the Clarksville Panthers Football Field is just being completed just in time for the first game of the year with the Lamar Warriors. The Downtown District is coming to life with music on the square, farmer's markets, and some great restaurants. If you enjoy small town living, give Clarksville a chance.     The new McDonald's, located on Rogers Street in Clarksville, is opening on August 9th at 5:00 a.m. There will be free hats and wristbands for the public that day. There will also be a grand re-opening on August 13 starting at 10:00 a.m. This will be a great family fun day event featuring $2.00 Happy Meals from 11:00 a.m-3:00 p.m. There will be free family fun activities, and free pony rides from 10:00 a.m.- 2:00 p.m.

    Also, they will be giving away two digital tablets, a bicycle, headphones, gift cards and passes to the Aquatic Center. Come by and register for your chance to win. Be there at 11:00 a.m. to see Ronald McDonald and at 2:00 p.m. for a Magic Show. We are so happy to see the progress with new businesses opening in Clarksville, and updating and rebuilding of existing businesses.
  • On September 20, 2016 there will be a special election to consider a 4.8 Mil increase to fund a new high school and refurbish the existing campus. The Clarksville School District is seeing tremendous growth and are in need of more classroom space. If you are currently living in the Clarksville School District and are interested in learning more about the millage, feel free to contact the school or speak to your local city representatives.

  • Grab that laptop, Ipad, Iphone, tablet, checkbook, credit card----classes at the University of the Ozarks begin August 23. Each syllabus is being prepared by the professor, food service is gearing up, the bookstore is ready! Best wishes for a successful fall semester!
  • First Week is a new student orientation program offered at the beginning of the semester to help new students become acquainted with the diverse factors of campus life. August 14-21st is the time frame. What a great plan! The student will also receive a one hour credit for this acclimation period.
  • The events are scheduled for the 2016 Johnson County Peach Festival!

    Beginning Wednesday, July 20th, there will be good 'ole gospel singing on the square starting at 6:00 p.m. followed by the Cinema on the Square at 9:00 p.m.. Festivities will continue through Saturday, July 30th with the final day to be The Queen Elberta, Arkansas Valley and Teen Arkansas Valley Pageant finals held at the Fine Arts Center.
