    Tuesday February 9th, 2016 was a pivotal moment in the future of Jacksonville. Voters approved a property tax millage increase of 7.6 mill to fund new facilities for the new Jacksonville-North Pulaski School District. The new district was overwhelmingly approved by voters (95%) last year and will officially take over responsibility for educating students on July 1st, 2016.

    The break from the Pulaski County Special School District was seen as a "must" for the leadership and residents of Jacksonville in order to move the city forward. The County's school district has been in a state of turmoil for the last several years and according to the city's leadership, has been a deterrent for business development and attracting new residents.

    The community center in Jacksonville has a lot to offer its residents. They have a swimming pool, indoor track, workout equipment, racquetball courts, gym for basketball/volleyball, workout classes, and an outdoor track with equipment to workout during or after your run/walk. The local skate park is just outside as well as the local farmer's market pavilion. The membership fee is very affordable and includes many great amenities. They also offer sports programs for every season, including volleyball and basketball, which are played at the facilities. The parks and recreation department also offers softball, baseball, and kickball among other sports for children and adults too! Many local events are held here, both in the banquet rooms indoors and the outdoor areas. Come and check it out!
