Downtown Area Insight

  • Downtown Little Rock has added more vegan-friendly restaurants to its streets, making it easier for vegans, vegetarians, flexitarians, and carnivores to eat out together. One such spot, Esters, offers a mirror menu, meaning, carnivores and vegans can essentially order the same dish adjusted to their dietary requirements. The LR Food Truck Stop is home to House of Mental which features cauliflower wings and mac and cheese among its vegan options. While inside Ottenheimer Hall, Blue Sage offers various vegan takes on traditional burgers.

Each vegan spot offers patrons a unique experience from the food hall and food truck vibes, to arcade games. Vegan food comes with flavor and fun!

Tucked along the Arkansas River in Little Rock’s East Village, Rock City Yacht Club is a hidden gem for boat lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, and anyone who enjoys that riverfront lifestyle. With covered and uncovered slips, power and water hookups, on-site restrooms, laundry, Wi-Fi, and even the only public boat ramp in downtown, it’s a one-of-a-kind spot in Central Arkansas.

It’s more than just a marina. From early morning paddles to sunset cruises, you’re just minutes away from the River Market, SOMA, the Clinton Library, local breweries, and some of the best food and entertainment in the city. Rock Town River Outfitters even launches guided kayak tours right from the marina. Even if you don’t own a boat, Rock City is still a great place to explore. Walk or bike the river trail, enjoy community events, or just relax and take in the view. It’s got a laid-back, neighborly feel that makes it easy to fall in love with.

And if river life has your heart? There are some amazing housing opportunities nearby — from downtown condos to East Village lofts and historic homes just a short drive away. Whether you're looking to live close to the water full-time or find a weekend place with easy river access, this part of Little Rock offers some unique options.
  • I live just below 630 at the Quapaw South. The main area of downtown is one of my favorite areas to take morning walks. On Sundays, there are farmer's markets that are open from 10:00 am-2:00 p.m. The Root Cafe is right across the street from the market, and the historic homes in the area are great to stroll by.

Look no further than Quapaw Quarters, located in Downtown Little Rock, for an architecturally diverse neighborhood. In Quapaw, you will find homes that embody various architectural styles, from geometric and mixed material designs to colorful facades. Tiny homes are scattered between inconspicuously large homes, with Victorian homes and uber-modern homes mixed in as well. Quapaw's proximity to SoMa makes it a walkable, live, and work neighborhood.
